Use Social Media Wisely
We all know what you put into your body with affects your physical health.
The same goes for your mind - what you consume on your newsfeed (sorry I couldn’t resist) affects your mental health!
Research shows we spend about 2.5 hours on social media apps every day.
The pictures you see, the opinions you read, and the people you follow all impact your thoughts and emotions.
The information you take in shapes how you feel about yourself, your life, and the world around you,
So only allow content that genuinely boosts your mental and emotional well-being to show up on your newsfeed!
Don’t waste time mindlessly scrolling through Instagram , and don’t be afraid to unfollow accounts that trigger negative feelings inside you.
Prioritise me-time
Our deepest and longest relationship in life is with ourselves. - yet with the pressures of modern day life it’s often the one we neglect the most!
When you feel happy inside yourself, you bring the best version of yourself wherever you go.
You are more inspired, energised and passionate in everything you do -and this shines through your relationships, and your performance at work.
There are so many ways you can nurture your relationship with yourself, so don’t be afraid to experiment to find out what works best for you.
You can try reading, painting, journalling, doing affirmations, praying, meditating, chanting, or even just listen to some feel good music!
I hope I’ve convinced you to make ‘me time’ a non-negotiable part of your week - even if it means saying no to the occasional social invite,
It will boost your self esteem and your mind, heart and soul will thank you for it!
Spend time in Nature
When we’re stuck indoors for too long, we often become trapped inside our own minds!
Going outside is so grounding.
It gives you a fresh perspective on life and helps you feel connected with the universe around you.
Nature is nurturing!
Feeling the grass beneath your feet, seeing the vast blue skies above us, hearing the birds tweeting and watching the sunset reminds you of the beauty of life.
It reduces feelings on loneliness, and fills your heart with a sense of gratitude, peace and belonging.
Exercise Daily
Usually when we think of exercise, we think about all the physical benefits it bring to our bodies.
Did you know that regular exercise is fantastic for your brain too?
It helps you focus better, and improves your memory and reduces stress!
When you exercise, your brain produces a range of feel good hormones like serotonin, dopamine, melatonin and endorphins which all help to keep your mind happy and healthy.
These chemicals boost your mood, lower your risk of anxiety and depression and help you get a better night’s sleep!
Practice Meditation
In a world where we spend most of our day rushing from one thing to another, meditation is a beautiful way to bring yourself back to the present moment.
You don’t need any special equipment to meditate. You just need to close your eyes and focus on the natural flow of your breath in a relaxed and detached way.
Even just a few minutes in the morning can really help you start your day in a positive way.
It teaches you to be mindful, and it helps you to respond to the world around you from a place of calmness and wisdom.
Don’t worry if when you first start meditating it feels like your mind is filled with thoughts - with a little practice you’ll start to discover an unconditional source of peace and happiness within you through your practice.
